White magic is like prayer but without the middleman (God, Jesus, Allah, whoever).

It's the direct sending of one's beneficial will into the ether using a somewhat formalized ritual (casting a circle of protection, calling on the "power" of the four corners -- North, East, South, and West, and other rituals that depend on the particular form of Wiccan belief).

Margot Adler's "Drawing Down the Moon" thoroughly explains what Wicca and white magic is all about, if you're interested.

Do I believe in it? No.

I am confused by the "reserrection" doctrine. Who will be raised first Old testament people or people who die right before Armaggeddon?

i have always wondered who will be raised first people such as noah, job, enoch, etc; or people who die right before armaggeddon?

if noah, job, are raised first would not they be terrified with all of the modern inventions they will see such as cars, airplanes, clothes, watches, tvs, radios, and all of the modern technologies.

also, if people lived to 900 years back then would not methusalan be shocked if a person raised tells him they were only 20 years old when they died?

the american pain foundation has closed its doors due to lack of funding and a growing hostile environment towards those who suffer with chronic pain.. with deep regret and heavy hearts, we sadly inform you that due to irreparable economic circumstances, apf must cease to exist, effective immediately.

on may 3, 2012, the board of directors formally voted to dissolve the organization.. the board and staff have worked tirelessly over many months to address a significant gap between available financial resources and funds needed to remain operational.

health care studies are showing obese body weight index is worse than smoking "death sticks", so how is the tower going to address their growing problem of overweight elders and elderettes?

if a organization is able to disfellowship a member for smoking, why not do the same with other vices and crutches their people use to hide stress, emotional disorders and depression?

employers are asking for a bmi test a their potential employees to create a diet to get healthy.

And how in the world do they determine the "attitude towards food"? What does that even mean? Does it mean that a skinny, sick "gorge-and-purge" anorexic can be tossed out of the flock? Do they really think that they can judge someone who they deem has a "bad attitude towards food," but who in fact is deathly ill?

LOL!!! But still true. Some of the stories I've read here are truly heart-rending, with children involved in tugs-of-war between dubs and their enlightened exes. And the years and years some have endured not being allowed to have contact with their families. Horrible.

THANK YOU, PERRY! I've been asking for years and you've finally told me! Parrots rule!

Back on topic, I've never been directly damaged by failed predictions because I never put much stock in them to begin with. I was generally a reluctant dub, having been dragged into the cult by my parents when I was a child.

When 1975 came and went without earth-shattering incident, however, I did decide to ignore the WTS's assurance that I would never need a career and went to college.

I was lucky in that I got out of the cult relatively unscathed by my experiences. By relatively, I mean a 3-year-long clinical depression that included 2 months of hospitalization. But others here have fared far worse.
